have you met our local dyer?

have you met our local dyer?

We are very lucky here at Knot Another Hat, because LavenderSheep yarns is a hometown creation.

Yvonne Ellsworth, the creative genius behind LavenderSheep, is a Hood River born-and-bred artist. She studied fiber arts at the University of Oregon, and returned to our little shire in the Gorge to open her own fiber business dying yarn and spinning fiber, dying warps for weaving, and designing knitting and weaving patterns. Even though she recently relocated to another part of the Pacific Northwest, we all know that deep down, Yvonne is a Hood River girl through and through. ;)

At the store you can find LavenderSheep's mini skeins, her Yakkity Yak Sock, the Superwash Bulky + (pictured at top), and the inimitable Seaside fingering (we were just restocked last week!). We also carry little hand-dyed fiber bundles that are perfect for hand- and needle-felting.

Online you can find more of Yvonne's creations in her Etsy shop (link above), as well as multiple published designs in the Handwoven brand of magazines.

When visitors from out of town come to the shop, the first thing they ask is, "do you have something local?" We smile and point them to the LavenderSheep, and they never leave empty-handed.

  • This is such a nice write up about Yvonne, and those skeins just make me want to run to your shop and buy them all.
I sure miss having her close by.
