Join us for our next KAL!
Let's bring on Fall with the Nile Knit-a-long (KAL). You know what I'm talking about: cozy evenings, cloudy days, pumpkins and fall leaves.
Do you know what would be perfect to wear while experiencing all those things? The Nile Cardigan.
Our very own Ingrid is joining us to host a Nile KAL that will begin on Friday, October 22. We'll be kicking off the fun with a Zoom meetup on the 22nd at 12:30pm PT (1:30 MT, 2:30 CT, 3:30 ET) followed by three more Zoom get-togethers on October 29, November 5, and November 12 (same time). All of the meetups will be recorded and the replays will be available.
How does a KAL work? A KAL is a loosely structured time where we all work on the same project. It isn't a class with full instruction, but in our meetups Ingrid will point out interesting and important pattern milestones, and we can all support each other in our progress and answer questions.
Shall we talk yarn?
Nile calls for a gauge of 5 sts/inch, which means the yarn options are WIDE open! We think the following yarns would be great:

I don’t do Zoom, but I would like to see the comments that ladies make about the pattern. Will this be recorded to be available or on You Tube?

Information above says 5 stitches/inch gauge. Pattern says 20 × 28 rows = 4”. Please clarify.

Hi Martha – By 5 st/in we are referring to stitch gauge only, which is generally used to select an appropriate yarn. Pattern says 20 stitches and 28 rows = 4 inches, which is the same stitch gauge as 5 st/in. You may measure both st and row gauge in your swatch, however, row gauge is often not that important in a pattern if it instructs you knit to certain length measurements, as compared to having to complete a colorwork chart in a sweater yoke, for example. If row gauge is important for this sweater, that will be discussed in the KAL.
