The Knot Another Hat Afghan eCourse

The Knot Another Hat Afghan eCourse

Our little community is abuzz with about our Afghan eCourse launch. That's right, the Afghan course is here again, and the talk is all-afghan, all-the-time right now!

This week I brought in my first Great American Aran Afghan to talk about during our Tuesday Lunch Chat (see the video replay here). I first taught this class in January of 2007, which means I was five months pregnant with my youngest at the time, and then had a baby right in the middle of the 20 month class (in other words: what was I thinking?).

The first time I taught this class, I certainly had experience cabling, and I also had experience reading charts. But working through these 20 different squares really cemented some key skills for me and gave me insight on how to make this project easier for my students.

Here is what you will take away from our virtual Afghan eCourse:

  • your cable skills will go from the most basic "anyone can do this" cables to "12-stitch-multi-directional-3-cable-needles-outta-this-world" cables.
  • you will become a chart-reading pro
  • you will learn additional skills such as seaming with a crochet hook, provisional cast on, grafting, picking up stitches in tight places, short rows, bobbles, and more
  • you will have a beautiful, lasting heirloom afghan when you are finished

If you read this list and said, "Sign me up", then head on over to our virtual classroom to sign up today. This course only opens up once every two years, so you don't want to miss this opportunity to hop on board.

Here is what past afghan student Julia had to say about this class:

"It is 100% due to your afghan class that cables are so easy for me and cable charts are so intuitive."

As a special extra, right now you can click on the "Free Preview" link in our virtual classroom and check out some intro materials to help you decide if this is the right course for you. (Registration is only open through February 12, so hurry!).

I truly love this blanket, and it is in regular use around my house. It now looks loved and well-worn, and I don't mind a bit.

  • I am sending this regarding Inv D86 for my Afghan yarn. I sent a message yesterday asking if you take Discover. I did not get a response. Today I received your invoice again asking to pay it. I decided that I guess you don’t take Discover so I tried to pay it but it won’t allow me to. Says my order is out of stock.

    Please advise

    Thank you,
    Lee Ellen

  • Can a beginner knitter take this eCourse? Is the instruction set up in a virtual classroom where I will have an opportunity to meet other knitters?
