Winter '24 KAL with Knot Another Hat

Let's welcome the new year with a Knit-a-long (KAL)! Join us to knit a Knot Another Hat favorite, the cozy pullover "Tea with Jam and Bread" by Heidi Kirrmaier. The designer says, "The spirit behind this design is something cozy you want to throw on top of your pyjamas for weekend breakfasts. Of course it would be also great for going to school, the grocery store, a football game, walking your dog, lounging around your home, or whatever else you love - or need - to do." This sweater is knit seamlessly from the top down and is offered in a wide size range. Colorblocking and pockets give it a cute and modern look.

Our wonderful host Ingrid will lead the KAL! It will kickoff with a Zoom meetup on Sunday, January 21 at 10:00am PT (11:00 MT, 12:00 CT, 1:00 ET), followed by three more Zoom get-togethers. Meetups will be recorded and replays made available to participants. Full schedule:

Meetup #1: Sunday, Jan 21 - 10:00am PT (11:00 MT, 12:00 CT, 1:00 ET)

  • I am stuck on short row 3 and need some guidance. It says to k to first stitch before marker. Which marker? The next one which is the right back or another one? Then do you repeat always going to the next marker without turning? This seems a very long row! Thank you for any help you can give.

Hi Kathi – it means the first marker you encounter after working the previous row. And then repeat that instruction to the following 3 markers. You are doing raglan increases at the same time as short rows in this section. Thank you!

  • I’d like to sign up but this is the only form that shows up for me at the end of the blog. Thanks!

That’s very strange Diane – you don’t see it right below all the yarns listed? We’ve been getting lots of signups! We put the signup form in 2 places, so see if you can see it here (scroll to bottom):

  • I like purple, blue, grey and pink. Would need size L1. Do the directions say easy or hard? I’m not a seasoned knitter. I’m partial to the American Ewe Worsted Tweed.

Hi Deb! Read over the description on the Ravelry page for the pattern (link in post above). It is knit seamlessly from the top down and it includes short-row shaping for the neckline. And it has pockets. The designer does not rate the difficulty, but there is a difficulty rating for the pattern generated by Ravelry knitters – it is ranked as fairly easy. Difficulty can be pretty subjective; while not an overly complicated sweater, it may be difficult for someone who has never knit a sweater. I hope this helps!
