Now Enrolling Students in our Signature Afghan eCourse
Our little community is abuzz with about our Afghan eCourse launch. That's right, the Afghan eCourse is here again, and the talk is all-afghan, all-the-time right now!
Last week I brought in my second Great American Aran Afghan to talk about during our Tuesday Lunch Chat (see the video here or click the image below). I cast this on during the 2020/2021 class session, and I actually just finished it a couple of months ago! (See all of my Afghan Ravelry entries)
I first taught this class in January of 2007, which means I was five months pregnant with my youngest at the time, and then had a baby right in the middle of the 20 month class (in other words: what was I thinking?). But the results were worth - I still love (and regularly use) my original afghan.
The first time I taught this class, I certainly had experience cabling, and I also had experience reading charts. But working through these 20 different squares really cemented some key skills for me and gave me insight on how to make this project easier for my students.
Here is what you will take away from our virtual Afghan eCourse:
- your cable skills will go from the most basic "anyone can do this" cables to "12-stitch-multi-directional-3-cable-needles-outta-this-world" cables.
- you will become a chart-reading pro
- you will learn additional skills such as seaming with a crochet hook, provisional cast on, grafting, picking up stitches in tight places, short rows, bobbles, and more
- you will have a beautiful, lasting heirloom afghan when you are finished
If you read this list and said, "Sign me up", then head on over to register today. This course only opens up once every two years, so you don't want to miss this opportunity to hop on board.
Here is what past afghan student Julia had to say about this class:
"It is 100% due to your afghan class that cables are so easy for me and cable charts are so intuitive."
As a special extra, right now you can view our first three lessons inside the course for free, to help you decide if this is the right course for you. (Registration is only open through December 31, and the course begins on January 5, 2025, so hurry!).
I truly love this blanket, and it is in regular use around my house. My original afghan now looks loved and well-worn, and I don't mind a bit.
