shop sample: Elton Pullover handknit sweater
Elton Pullover by Joji Locatelli is a light-as-air pullover inspired by the designer's earlier pattern, the Elton Cardigan. It features simple stripes using two very different yarns: a fingering weight and a lace weight mohair. The lace weight stripes appear somewhat translucent and the fingering weight stripes solid, creating a delicate texture.
This sweater is worked from the top down in one piece. The shoulders are shaped using short rows; the back and front are worked separately down to the armholes, then joined to work the body in the round. The sleeves are later picked up around the armholes and worked in the round. Recommended fit is with 16" positive ease because of the drop shoulder design.
Our sample was knit by Sarah using Malabrigo Ultimate Sock, a superwash merino/nylon blend, and Madelinetosh Impression, a mohair/silk blend, in tonal shades of purple. The result is beautiful, luxurious and feather-light. Sarah put together some inspired yarn/color combinations below! Yarn names and colors are shown below the photos.
