Shop sample: Moby Sweater

natural color cabled pullover handknit sweater on display in a local yarn shop

The Moby Sweater by PetiteKnit is a classic textured, cabled pullover. The back and front yokes of this handknit sweater are worked separately with shoulder shaping, then joined to form the body which is worked down in the round. The sleeves are worked in the round also.

Our Moby Sweater sample was knit by Jill in Blue Sky Fibers Woolstok, a 100% fine Peruvian Highland 2-ply wool that is extremely soft and rich in character with excellent stitch definition. Woolstok is available in 150g hanks in a more neutral color palette and in 50g hanks in a full color range. Jill knit this for herself after being inspired by knitting the Moby Baby Sweater shop sample.

  • Hey Jill….I’m curious. You know that Lemon Spritz 4 day KAL?. (Like get real! I signed up but no expectation that I could finish it in FOUR days.). But once when I was in the store you gave me a little trunk show of Marie Greene’s children’s book/patterns. So sweet. And I’m curious….how long did it take you to knit the Moby Sweater?

It took Jill about 3 months to knit her Moby Sweater, though of course that was not the only thing she worked on during that time. Jill knits like the wind!!!

  • I LOVED knitting this classic sweater and Woolstok worsted is one of my favorite yarns to knit with!

  • Beautiful! Jill knitted up another fabulous garment.

BTW, I’m knitting the pattern “Persimmon” from Blue Sky Fibers also
    with their Woolstok yarn.
310 rows to go! The yarn is a wee bit fuzzy but looks nice.
