In this online class, Sarah will guide you through everything you need to know to successfully take a basic pattern and make it your own! Using pattern templates for a basic hat and cowl, we'll talk about gauge, different stitch patterns, substituting stitch patterns, and charting your own designs. You'll come away with the confidence to take a pattern and Make It Your Own! We will walk through worksheets (included in the handout) to de-mystify the dreaded math of substitution and make it approachable.
The class will include a handout with the pattern for your hat and cowl, as well as several different stitch pattern options, and references for how to find stitch pattern resources, and a coupon for 10% off a one-time purchase at Knot Another Hat.

This course is for knitters who are ready to branch out and customize patterns to make them their own. Adventurous beginners to advanced knitters can make use of this course if they are interested in techniques related to customizing patterns.

This course is a video course offered through our virtual classroom. You will have lifetime access to this course once purchased. You can progress through the course as fast or as slow as you prefer, and re-watch any section as many times as you like. Because this is digital content that is delivered immediately upon payment, we cannot offer refunds.

Return Policy
Returns for STORE CREDIT ONLY are accepted on regular-priced yarn stocked in-store in original condition within 60 days (shipping not included). No returns, refunds or exchanges on sale items, needles, digital content, special orders, drop-ship orders, pre-orders, and patterns. Please contact us in the case of defects.
Due to merchant processing fees, we are unable to retro-actively apply coupon codes or gift card codes not entered at checkout for a refund. Please be sure to fully enter your coupon code or gift card before completing checkout.
Some subscription auto-renewals that are not managed ahead of renewal time may not be eligible for refunds; some may be eligible for a refund minus a processing fee to cover merchant fees (see our Subscriptions Policy for more details).
Class Cancellation Policy: refund for store credit with 7 days' advanced notice; within 7 days, no refund unless your spot can be filled from a waitlist.
Virtual Course Cancellation Policy (courses hosted on our virtual classroom platform Thinkific): refund for store credit minus a 5% processing fee with 2 days' advanced notice; within 2 days of course start date no refunds available. There are no refunds for course materials or digital content that the student has already received.
