Invisible Mending: Reconstructing Damaged Handknits
Does a beloved sweater or handmade knit have a hole, snag, or damaged section? Join Ariana and Sofia to learn the art of true knit reconstruction. In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn how knitted fabric is built stitch by stitch—and how to rebuild damaged areas by replacing fully missing stitches so repairs are structurally sound, durable, and as visually seamless as possible.
Working on swatches with high-contrast yarn for clarity, you’ll learn the underlying logic of knitted fabric so you can confidently approach future repairs at home. Skills covered:
- Stitch anatomy and fabric structure
- Counting stitches and rows to reconstruct missing fabric
- Duplicate stitch as a reconstruction tool
- Rebuilding missing stitches
- Reinforcing vulnerable areas
- Clean finishing and invisible end weaving
- Knitwear preservation and care tips
Skill level: Intermediate
Best for knitters who are comfortable reading basic stitch structure and maintaining reasonably consistent tension.

- Finishing needle
- A knitted swatch you’re comfortable cutting into
- Contrasting color yarn in the same weight as your swatch (worsted recommended); wool or cotton yarn preferred
- Please avoid dark, fluffy, silky, or novelty yarns

Return Policy
Returns for STORE CREDIT ONLY are accepted on regular-priced yarn stocked in-store in original condition within 60 days (shipping not included). No returns, refunds or exchanges on sale items, needles, digital content, special orders, drop-ship orders, pre-orders, and patterns. Please contact us in the case of defects.

Class Cancellation Policy: refund for store credit with 7 days' advanced notice; within 7 days, no refund unless your spot can be filled from a waitlist.
Virtual Course Cancellation Policy (courses hosted on our virtual classroom platform Thinkific): refund for store credit minus a 5% processing fee with 2 days' advanced notice; within 2 days of course start date no refunds available. There are no refunds for course materials or digital content that the student has already received.
