shop sample: butterfly / papillon handknit shawl
Butterfly/Papillon by MarinJaKnits is a classic handknit shawl that shows off color-changing yarn with a stained glass effect. Using short rows to achieve the wavy color affect, this handknit shawl looks lovely in either a long transition mutli-colorway or self-striping yarn. While better suited to the intermediate+ knitter, the instructions give extensive stitch counts to help you keep track while working the short rows.
Our sample (provided by Urth Yarns) was knit in 2 skeins of Urth Uneek Fingering (100% superwash merino, self-striping) and 1 skein of Urth Harvest Fingering (100% superwash merino, solid color). The striking self-striping colors of Uneek pair beautifully with the plant-dyed hues of Harvest.
Sarah created fabulous color combinations of Uneek and Harvest to put together some grab-n-go bundles for Papillon!
