Winter '25 Virtual Knit Along with Knot Another Hat

Time for a Winter Knit Along (KAL) to kick off the New Year! This year we've chosen the accessible and fun-to-knit Carbeth, by Kate Davies. There is a pullover (Carbeth) and a cardigan (Carbeth Cardigan) version of this pattern - and you choose which to knit. Details below (including pattern info and yarn recommendations).
About Carbeth, the designer says it is "A wide, cropped sweater with simple lines and a deep roll neck. Swift and straightforward to knit, this is a great sweater for beginners." And the Carbeth Cardigan is "A cropped cardigan with simple lines and a structured ribbed collar." The landscape, culture and history of Scotland, where Kate Davie lives, is an endless source of creative inspiration for her designs. We love the flattering and timeless design of these patterns. Knit in bulky weight yarn, these sweaters are the perfect instant gratification you might crave in this new year.
Our wonderful host Ingrid will lead the KAL! It will kickoff with a Zoom meetup on Wednesday, January 22 at 10:00am PT (11:00am MT, 12:00pm CT, 1:00pm ET), followed by three more Zoom get-togethers. Meetups will be recorded and replays made available to participants. Full schedule:

Hi, How do I increase my length of cardigan Carbeth?
Thank you,
Pam Moffatt

Knot Another Hat replied:
Hi Pam – the pattern instructs you to “work in Stockinette back and forth until piece measures X” [depending on your size] from cast-on edge, or desired length to underarm."
So, you just continue until it is the length you want, assuming you purchased enough extra yarn to lengthen – I can’t remember if I worked with you on yarn quantity to lengthen.
Do you recommend Berroco Mercado for this ?
Or too bulky ?

Knot Another Hat replied:
Hi Libby! Yes, Berroco Mercado would work well for this. I’m not quite sure how I left it off the list of suggested yarns on this post but I’m going to fix that right now. Thank you! https://knotanotherhat.com/collections/yarn/products/berroco-mercado
