shop sample: artus colorwork handknit shawl
"Artus" by Natasja Hornby is a stunning 5-color shawl that is eye-catching and functional. Using both simple stranded colorwork and deceptively simple mosaic knitting, this handknit shawl is described by the designer as "a rich tapestry of texture and color". Artus is a triangular shawl that is worked top-down from the center out, starting with a classic Garter Tab Cast On.
Sarah knit our sample in sport weight Manos del Uruguay Alpaca Heather (70% wool, 30% alpaca), choosing a warm neutral main color combined with tonal and subtly contrasting contrast colors. Three undyed colors of this yarn (Grey, Beige, and Toast) come in 100g hanks of 328 yards, which go a long way for a main color. The kettle-dyed semi-solid colors are rich, subtle tones and come in 50g hanks, perfect for colorwork projects that require smaller amounts of some colors. Alpaca Heather has been a "desert island" yarn for Sarah since she first knit a sweater with it a few years ago.
