First Hat with Jill is perfect for the new knitter who is ready to take the next step! Learn to knit in the round to make your first hat. This class uses our "Aunt Jill's Hat" pattern (included with class purchase) to make a simple hat and learn new skills. Plus, the pattern is designed for several weights of yarn, so you will be to use it over and over to make more hats and experience different yarns.

Skill Level: This class is suitable for the new knitter. You should know how to cast on, knit, purl, and bind off.

• "Aunt Jill's Hat" pattern by Sarah Keller. This versatile hat pattern is written for multiple yarn weights. It is included with your class purchase and will be provided in class and as a download file upon purchase of class. You will choose to knit either the bulky OR worsted weight version of the pattern.
  
• Yarn: 100-130 yds bulky weight yarn OR 120-150 yds worsted weight yarn
  • Suggested bulky weight yarns are Berroco Ultra Alpaca Chunky, Berroco Vintage Chunky, Malabrigo Vientos
  • Suggested worsted weight yarns are Malabrigo Rios, Berroco Vintage, or Vintage Handpaint, Yarn Citizen Unity Worsted 
• Needles:
  • for bulky yarn, size US 10 (6.0mm) 16" circular needle
  • for worsted yarn, size US 8 (5.0mm) 16" circular needle
• Stitch marker
• Finishing needle (for weaving in ends)

Homework:
Have your yarn wound into a ball and cast on 60 sts for bulky yarn or 82 stitches for worsted yarn to begin pattern.

Class size: Class will be limited to 6 students.
