shop sample: berta intarsia handknit sweater
"Berta Sweater" from the Manos del Uruguay design team is a patchwork-inspired pullover handknit sweater. Berta is worked flat in pieces using intarsia knitting. The result is a fun and striking checkered design. The simple construction, with drop shoulders and a straight body, makes for an easy knit with the intarsia technique being the focus. The finished sweater is a boxy and comfortable fit that you won't want to take off.
Sarah knit our Berta sample in the design yarns, Manos del Uruguay Marla and Sami, which are 100% superwash merino wool yarns that are color-coordinated to create gorgeous color pairings. Marla is a marled multi-color and Sami is solid color. Sarah's choice of warm tones creates a beautiful balance of contrast and blending and Berta has become an instant favorite! Berta is designed with a recommended ease of 8-14” and Sarah's has about 8" of ease.
