shop sample: carbeth cardigan handknit sweater
The Carbeth Cardigan by Kate Davies is a cropped cardigan with simple lines and a structured ribbed collar. It is knit from the bottom up in one piece, beginning with an inch of ribbing. Length can be added to the straight body, if desired, to make it less cropped. Button bands are worked, then the neck ribbing is picked up and worked, folded over and joined to the inside of the garment. An i-cord bind off and buttonholes add a neat finish to the front edges.
Jill knit our sample in the soft and balanced aran weight Amano Turay, a 50/50 blend of superwash merino wool and pima cotton. This sweater knit up in a snap with this smooth yarn at a gauge of 3.5 st/in. Jill said "What a fun, quick knit - this flew off my needles! Yarn was dreamy to knit with and comes in great colors!" We chose a contrasting color to knit the inside of the turned collar and peek out the top edge, and paired it with vintage buttons.
