shop sample: Ranunculus handknit sweater
Ranunculus by Midori Hirose is a top-down round yoke pullover with lace and textured stitches. This sweater is versatile to style and is a quick and fun knit at an open gauge.
The pattern includes short rows between the neckline ribbing and yoke on both the back and front for fit and shaping. Designed in a cropped length for layering over dresses or high-waisted bottoms, it can be adjusted to your desired length. Choose from a smaller or wider neckline and short sleeves to long puff sleeves, including an optional diagonal cuff line on the sleeve. The overall fit is the knitter's preference but it is designed with a lot of positive ease (modeled with 15-20" ease).
Sarah knit a sample (red) in Berroco Vento, a baby alpaca/acrylic/wool blend DK-weight yarn that has a gorgeous halo, a subtle two-tone effect that really pops in jewel tones, and a beautiful drape - perfect for a light and airy Ranunculus. And because we cannot get enough of this sweater, Beth also knit a sample (cream) using HiKoo Twisp and Berroco Aerial held together. HiKoo Twisp is sport weight blend of pima cotton/bamboo viscose/hemp that is soft with a subtle sheen, and the mohair/silk blend of Aerial lends a fluffy halo and a touch of luxury. We love both versions of this sweater!
This sweater can be knit in yarn weights from lace to fingering to worsted; the weight of yarn will determine the openness and density of the fabric. Want to knit your own Ranunculus in Vento?
