The Stash Be Gone Cowl
Thanks to some motivation from you all, I recently finished up a large fingering weight scrap yarn project (you can check it out here). And as much as I absolutely LOVE this project, I had to admit to myself that it didn't even put the smallest dent in my fingering weight leftovers.
And so the Stash Be Gone Cowl was born.
This lightweight cowl is knit in the round in an easy two-color pattern, so all of your floats are permanently hidden on the interior (or wrong side) of the piece. There are endless color variations, as you get to change up your colors at any time throughout! And, you can choose from the shorter cowl that goes one time around your neck (as pictured on me), or really bust that stash and make the longer, twice-around-your-neck version.
Here's how it works:
Gather together your chosen fingering weight bits and bobs, and sort them together into two piles: your MC pile (background), and your CC pile. Then you just get started, and swap out your colors whenever your heart desires! Make it bright and loud or make it subtle and soft, there is no limit to your creativity.
The knitty gritty:
- Two sizes (once around the neck or twice around the neck)
- Requires approximately 3.25 (6.8) ounces of mixed fingering weight yarns (if you really don't have fingering weight stash, Madelinetosh Unicorn Tails would work perfectly - you'll need approximately 325 (725 yds) total
- Gauge is 27 sts/4" in pattern, after blocking, on size US 4 (3.5mm) needle
Stash, be gone!
