Join Jill to knit a baby sweater! The Soundbite Sweater (by Marie Greene of Olive Knits) is great for advanced beginner knitters or even first-time sweater knitters who are comfortable following knitting patterns. This top-down circular yoke sweater uses stripes and slipped stitches to create the color detail in the yoke. This three-session class will teach you all the steps to knit a top-down seamless sweater - in a small size! Prefer to knit an adult size? Then Soundtrack, the adult version, is for you (however the class will be paced for the smallest 3 sizes of Soundbite).
The Soundbite Sweater pattern is found in the book Knit A Little, which contains 12 sweaters (baby/child sizes 0 to 10) and 12 coordinating hats (sizes preemie to adult). Jill has knit every sweater in this book, several more than once! Check out our blog post from 2021 with Jill's "Little" trunk show. We will be hosting an author reception and book signing for the re-release of this book on Feb 28th.
Skill Level: This class is suitable for advanced beginner knitters on up. You should be familiar with reading a knitting pattern, know how to cast on, knit, purl, perform basic increases and decreases, and bind off.
Materials: Registered students will be emailed a coupon code for 10% off class materials purchased at Knot Another Hat, and will receive a one-time 15% off coupon for a post-class purchase good for 60 days. (*Discounts exclude classes, events, and consignment items.)

Pattern: "Soundbite Sweater", available in the book Knit A Little by Marie Greene (you can read the pattern details on Ravelry but it is only available for purchase in the book). You may choose from the smallest 3 pattern sizes; the smaller you choose the more likely to finish all steps in the class duration.
- Yarn: 310-360 yds worsted weight (280-320 yds main color & 30-40 yds contrast color). See pattern details for sizing and the quantity of yarn required (yardage shown here is for the 3 smallest sizes. Suggested yarns: Malabrigo Rios or Berroco Vintage; 1 skein of Manos del Uruguay Bocados is enough for contrast color and Feederbrook Farm Entropy DK is a fun choice for contrast also.
- Needles: 16" circular size US 5 & 6 (3.75 & 4.0mm), or size to achieve gauge, plus a second size US 5 & 6 circular needle (16 or 24"), double-pointed needles, or "Shorties" circulars for small-circumference knitting on the sleeves and sleeve cuffs. (If you choose to knit a larger size, longer lengths of these needles sizes may be needed for the body.)
- Stitch markers
- Waste yarn or Purl Strings for putting sleeve stitches on hold to knit the body
- Finishing needle (for weaving in ends)
Homework:
Have your yarn wound (if needed) and knit and block a gauge swatch to achieve the pattern gauge (20 stitches & 26 rows = 4 inches in stockinette stitch, blocked). Be ready to cast on in the first class.
Class size: Class will be limited to 6 students
