shop sample: Spill the Tea handknit top

lace-detail handknit top modeled by woman

Introducing "Spill the Tea", this year's Olive Knits #4dayKAL (4 Day Knit-a-long) pattern by Marie Greene. We are so excited for this July project that Sarah is already knitting her second shop sample. This top combines easy, breezy lace details and colorful contrasts to create the perfect splash of color for this delightful v-neck top. Knit in a sport to light DK weight yarn, Spill the Tea is perfect for spring, summer evenings, or for layering in cooler weather - truly an all season design that you can wear year-round.

We have all the details on this year's KAL - check out our previous post here, and if you'd like to join KAH knitting Spill the Tea, sign up for our virtual KAL zooms on that page.

Spill The Tea was a fun knit, worked bottom up in the round to the underarm, the lace and color keep things interesting. Then the upper front and back sections are worked flat and seamed along the shoulders. The v-neck is picked up and knit afterward with a centered double decrease in the front, and the armholes are finished with simple ribbing. Sarah knit this sample using Lang Vaya, a lofty and luxurious light DK weight cotton, merino and yak blend. The main color is broken up by tonal contrast color stripes for a subtle overall neutral look. Check out our collection of yarns and tea-themed accessories great for this year's 4-Day KAL!
